Mac Questions?

I'm planning on going overseas this comming summer to Eurasia specifically to the countries of Kyrgyzstan and Ukraine to visit missionary friends and so forth (I'm considering becoming a missionary myself), and with that I'm considering buying a Macbook Pro (not just because of it's quality but also particularly since it can also run windows). Anyways here's 2 questions I'm looking for answers to and that's all I'm looking for, so please no bad mouthing Mac. 1. if I were to buy an Apple USB modem would it be able to work over in that region or would I need something else? 2. Is it possible after setting up another user account to download the Russian Language OS from apple.ru (since Mac OS Tiger and Leopord doesn't include the full Russian Language OS) without changing the main user accounts OS?
