On the iphone friends dont show up in chat on facebook?

when im on my iphone it shows some friends online and some people it doest.... i know they are online because we will be commenting and on the same thing.. and some people will chat with me but they dont show up in my iphone chat box... when i go to the computer they are online..... but it doest show them on my iphone.... i need help
